About the event

What did Foucault do for queer theory? While many look to his History of Sexuality for answers, what about his lesser celebrated History of Madness, where he redeploys eros? Join Lynne Huffer (Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Emory University), the author of Mad for Foucault: Rethinking the Foundations of Queer Theory (2010), for a conversation on the ethical stakes of Foucault's genealogy of queer sexuality. She will be joined by two discussants: The Reverend Dr. Serene Jones (President, Union Theological Seminary), the author of Trauma and Grace: Theology in a Ruptured World (2009), and Kyoo Lee (Philosophy, CUNY), the author of Reading Descartes Otherwise: Blind, Mad, Dreamy, and Bad (2012).

Cosponsored by the ReOrientale: Rethinking Orientalism and other Global Oddities Working Group.
