Ana Cândida de Avelar  is an adjunct professor in the Department of Visual Arts at

Universidade de Brasília. She holds a PhD in Visual Arts from the
University of São Paulo School of Communication and Arts, a Master in
Brazilian Literature and a Bachelor in Portuguese Literature from the
Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of the same
university. She was coordinator of the Center for Research and Mediation
at the Centro Universitário Maria Antonia - USP. In 2012, he was
assistant curator of the same center. She was a visiting researcher at
the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University in 2011. She has
taught courses on history and art criticism and book illustration at
MIS, Lasar Segall Museum, São Paulo Cultural Center, MASP and ECA / USP,
among others. She acted as a freelance translator providing services to
museums, cultural centers and galleries and was a plastic arts reporter
at Folha de S. Paulo in 2001. She is also a member of ECA / USP's
Center for Research in Art & Photography.
