Cory Charles Gooding is a Consortium for Faculty Diversity Postdoctoral Fellow in Government at Bowdoin College. He earned his Bachelors in Political Science from Haverford College, a Masters in Afro-American Studies from UCLA, and his doctorate in Political Science, also from UCLA. Cory’s research focuses on the intersection of race, ethnicity and politics with an emphasis on citizenship and political behavior. He is a contributing author to A Companion to Sport where he and Mark Sawyer examine anti-black racism in international football. Currently, Cory is developing a book manuscript that examines group-based identity, socio-political attitudes and political behavior among Afro-Caribbeans in the United States during the Barack Obama administration. In addition to his research, Cory has over 12 years of experience working with students to ensure positive outcomes in diverse educational settings. He is committed to teaching, mentorship and youth development with a particular focus on exposing students to the politics in their daily lives.
