Emily Shanahan received her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2013 and holds a BFA from Concordia University, Montreal. Her work has been exhibited in Norway, Germany, Singapore, Canada, and the United States. In 2016 her work was included in the group exhibition People Who Work Here, at David Zwirner Gallery, NY, and her video One Hundred Gestures from One Hundred Watch Advertisements (1901-2000) was exhibited at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. Emily is a former artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center for the Arts in 2010, and a selected participant in the Spring 2016 New Museum Seminar series on the theme of Legacy. Her artist book The Tick vs. the Hum was published by Golden Spike Press in 2015. Originally from Montreal, Emily is based in Brooklyn, NY.
