The Plastic Arts is the collaboration between writer/director Jake Hooker and designer Tláloc López-Watermann that takes the shape of performance lectures which utilize technologies (archaic, outmoded, unnecessary, and even some cutting edge) to present information (true and false, misleading and misled, personal and historical, and sometimes even mythical) all of which hopefully elucidates the live (and lived) moment of each performance. Or, as Compton's Pictured Encyclopedia, 1922 would have it: "To Inspire ambition, to stimulate the imagination, to provide the inquiring mind with accurate information told in an interesting style, and thus lead into broader fields of knowledge -- such is the purpose of this work." In New York we've shown our work at the Incubator Arts Project, CATCH, the Trinity Project, and the Kitchen (with the Target Margin lab), and in Berlin at the Lyn-Lyn and Ida Nowhere.
