Jennifer Wenzel is in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University after being an Associate Professor of English at the University of Michigan. She teaches courses in world literature and postcolonial theory with an emphasis on postcolonial ecocriticism.


Her first book is Bulletproof: Afterlives of Anticolonial Prophecy in South Africa and Beyond (University of Chicago Press, University of Kwa-Zulu Natal Press), and her current book projects are Reading for the Planet: World Literature and Environmental Crisis and Contrapuntal Environmentalisms: Nature, North and South. She is also co-editing the collection, Fueling Culture: Energy, History, Politics (Forthcoming, Fordham University Press).
