Professor Alexander Schlutz teaches both at John Jay College and the CUNY Graduate Center. He studied Comparative Literature, English Literature and French Literature in Germany and the United States. He received his MA from the University of Tübingen and his PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle. His research focuses mainly on the intersection of literature and philosophy in the Romantic period and the relationship between literature and ecology. He currently coordinates John Jay's program and minor in Sustainability and Environmental Justice.
