Bernard Stiegler is Director of the Institut de Recherche et d'Innovation (IRI) at the Pompidou Center, which was created at his initiative in April 2006, and a professor at the University of Technology of Compiègne and at Goldsmiths College (London) where he teaches philosophy. He has published widely on philosophy, technology, digitization, capitalism, and consumer culture. Among his writings, his three volumes of La Technique et Le Temps (Technics and Time), and two volumes of De La Misère Symbolique are particularly well known. He is one of the founders of the political group Ars Industrialis based in Paris, and has published extensively on the problem of individuation in consumer capitalism.
