Byron Kim is a contemporary artist whose large painting installation "Synecdoche" was included in the 1993 Whitney Biennial. He has received numerous awards including the Alpert Award, UCROSS and Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant to name a few. He has been exhibiting in solo and two person shows since 1992 and has shown with artists such as Kiki Smith and Glenn Ligon. Mr. Kim has shown in group exhibition across the USA as well as abroad including shows in Korea, Poland, Spain, the UK, Germany, London and Canada. His work is in the permanent collection of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY; the Art Institute of Chicago, IL; the Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley, CA; the Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, TX; the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington D.C.; the Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, CA; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; the Norton Family Collection, Santa Monica, CA; the Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, CT; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; and the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA.
