Francis Mejia is a senior at KIPP NYC College Preparatory. One change Francis would like is to get violence out of local communities and neighborhoods. The less violence we have, the more citizens will feel safe where they live. One way of achiving this is by holding a town meeting, and having community voices heard and taking action. We also need to open programs with the districts in order for kids to have access to different public spaces during the summertime or throughout the school year. We have a lot of teens that are knowledgeable of what’s going on. If we have a platform for people to listen to teens, then we can reach others and inspire them to use their voices.
