Jeremy Eichler is a writer and scholar who has served since 2006 as the chief classical music critic of The Boston Globe. His column “Third Ear”—which connects music with broader worlds of history, politics, and culture—has been recognized with an ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for music criticism. Eichler’s writing has also appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic, The Nation, and The Washington Post, among many other publications.

Eichler was the recipient of a Richard Hoftstadter Fellowship from Columbia University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Modern European History. His work has also been awarded fellowships from the Center for Jewish History and the German Academic Exchange Service. He currently teaches at Brandeis University.
