Magdalena Bogacka-Rode received her PhD from the Graduate Center CUNY in 2014. Her dissertation, "Straight Record and the Paper Trail: From Depression Reporters to Foreign Correspondents", written with enormous support and encouragement from Jane C. Marcus, won the 2015 Carolyn G. Heilbrun Dissertation Prize. She is currently an Assistant Professor of English at Queensborough Community College, CUNY. Her most recent publication is a piece entitled “Shortchanged by the Care Economy: The Maid’s Daughter in Kathryn Stockett’s The Help” in Like One of the Family: Domestic Workers, Race and In/Visibility in The Help
