Sherine Hamdy is an anthropologist with long-standing interests in cross-cultural approaches to medicine, health, and the body. She received her Ph.D. from New York University Department of Anthropology in 2006. Professor Hamdy has been a professor of anthropology at Brown since 2008, and was a Mellon postdoctoral fellow at Brown's Cogut Center for the Humanities from 2006-2008. She teaches courses in medical anthropology, science and society, Middle East ethnography, and social theory in cultural anthropology.
