Yasmine El Rashidi is a Cairo-based writer. She is a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books, a contributing editor to the arts and culture quarterly Bidoun, and the author of The Battle for Egypt. Her writing has also appeared in publications including the London Review of Books, Aperture, The Guardian, Monocle, Le Monde Diplomatique, Index on Censorship, Ms., and the Arabic literary journal Weghat Nazar.
